Artemis miss the opening race of the Louis Vuitton Cup series
Artemis Racing, to Sweden in the 34th America's Cup, the opening of the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Series Louis skips race when he recover from the fatal capsizing his first boat last month continued.
On the Cup of America website, Artemis said it plans to expand its new 72-foot catamaran to start in early July and be ready to run until the end of the bay of San Francisco. "If the sailing team is convinced that the boat can be pushed hard in race conditions, it will participate in the competition," said team.
Quarterback Andrew "Bart" Simpson died on 9 May, when 72-foot catamaran capsized team in practice, trapping him in the rubble.
The Louis Vuitton Cup for challengers for 7 July planned. Artemis miss so much of the competition in the round, starting with only Luna Rossa Challenge of Italy and Emirates Team New Zealand.
"We are working around the clock to get our new boat loans, water and prepare for our race team," said CEO Paul Cayard of Artemis. "We still have a mountain to climb, but our plan is to start our new boat at the beginning of July and find ourselves in a position where we can walk to the end of the month."
FIFA officials in America were not immediately available for comment.
