Chanel reaches career high ranking
Johannesburg - Chanel Simmonds of South Africa climbed 17 places in the latest WTA rankings released on Monday, reaching a career high ranking of 162.
Simmonds, 20, took second place in Soweto Open at the weekend after losing 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-6 to Timea Babos of Hungary in the final of the women's tournament.
Number one Chanelle Scheepers SA moved up three places to 57th Place ranking in singles, women, despite the 3-6 defeat, 3-6 to former world number one Ana Ivanovic at the Madrid Open last week.
Meanhwhile, the number of SA men a Kevin Anderson in the 27th Position, retained his rank for singles ATP.
Anderson reached the third round of the men of Madrid, where he was eliminated in straight sets by the world number six Tomas Berdych. - Sapa
